Help Feed the Ground Troops on Election Day!

(lots of requests here, read all the way down)

Betsy Levitas For Glenwood Office: (Corner of Edwards Mill across from Crabtree Mall)

Can you help with donations of food for election workers on Election Day?  Or do you know businesses who can provide some meals, snacks, water, etc.?  Poll workers cannot leave their stations and office workers won’t be able to take the time away from their duties.

Please give me a call at 880-5315 or write me at betsy.levitas@gmail.com with your contributions, referrals and ideas.  Please put “food” in the subject line if you email.  Thanks so much!

KNOW STRAIGHT TICKET VOTING ISSUES

MESSAGE FROM ILENA EWAN: The State Board of Elections has responded to national concerns about NC’s straight ticket voting problem by sending an advisory to all 100 County Boards of Elections. The email was sent Wednesday, at 5 PM 10/22. The email urges all County Board of Elections to have poll workers give handouts about straight ticket voting to all voters showing up to vote. It is not clear that all counties are complying. In North Carolina, straight ticket voting does not count for President. Many voters do not realize this and as a result, our state has one of the highest undervote rates for President in the US. In 2004 we lost 92,000 votes for President, and in 2000 we lost 75,000 votes for President because of this counter-intuitive law.

Yardsign Distribution

Carol Lawrence sent this information: The yardsigns are in!!!  Let’s get them blooming around Raleigh! There are 100  in the reception hall at 600 St. Marys.  The reception volunteers are distributing them and requesting a donation. ($5 I think). Stop by and get a few!  I’ll make sure they stay supplied as another 1300 are available! Let me know if you or anyone you know could use 50 or 100 (they come 100 to a box) and we can work that out.  Direct questions to cjlawrence@nc.rr.com.
